Frequently Asked Questions

Have any questions?

Do I need an order from a doctor before I can be seen by a physical therapist?

  • Yes. State law requires a physician's referral for treatment to be rendered. A physician's referral is valid for 30 days from the date it is written.

How long do medical and physical therapy appointments last?

  • The initial evaluation and treatment will last approximately 45 minutes including filling out the necessary paperwork. Treatment sessions thereafter can vary from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the type of injury and treatment plan.

Do you see patients on a walk-in basis?

  • Most patients are seen by scheduled appointment. However, walk-ins are seen as the schedule permits.

What are the most common rehabilitation requiring problems you treat?

  • We see a variety of orthopedic and sports medicine injuries, and modality and arthritis problems.

How many times will I need to come for treatment?

  • Patients are usually seen 1-3 times per week depending on the type and severity of the injury. Duration of treatment also varies and is determined on an individual basis.

What should I wear?

  • Please wear comfortable clothing that will allow access to the body area you wish to address.

Will my insurance company cover my treatment?

  • Most insurances pay for outpatient medical and physical therapy, however the amounts paid and number of visits allowed depends on the policies of your carrier. Usually, there is a deductible and/or a co-payment for each visit.

What should I expect when I come to see you?

  • During your first visit, we will perform an evaluation to determine what the particular issues are and how they are affecting your life. With your consent and involvement we will determine the best course of treatment for you, which may consist of self care, home management and post-treatment preventive maintenance programs.

How will I handle my problem at home?

  • Your therapy program will include a home program to be carried out independently. Our therapists will educate the patient, and family or other care givers when necessary, about the patient's current condition and treatment plan.
